Puasa Dia Orang

“I cannot understand why some people defeated the purpose of puasa,” kata Mr. V dalam perjalanan kita orang ke Ipoh semalam. “They refrained themselves from eating and drinking during the day. They were encouraged to give to charity as much as they could afford. Yet when it’s time to break their fast, they paid RM80 to RM100 at Ramadan buffet. They spent their money for their meal twice as much in a day during their puasa time than when they are not fasting! It defeats the purpose and the true spirit of puasa, isn’t it? Instead of saving their money for not having to take lunch and merely taking light dinner and supper, and use the money that they managed to save to give to charity and the poor, they gave their money – more than they ever saved – to hotel restaurants and businessmen just to buka puasa. The poor now should start opening up restaurants during puasa time so as not to remain poor! “

10 Respons to “Puasa Dia Orang”

  1. All I can say is that, hebat kene zassssssssssssss Mr. V.

I’ve always disliked the idea of spending RM80 for food (buffet ke tak buffet) especially time Ramadan when businessfolks seem to be milking the cents and senses out of us.I suppose bila dah tiba time nak buka puasa tu, memang mencabar sebab perut kata lapar, otak pun dah lama berlabuh kat Sleepy Station.Tapi agak bodohlah spending a lot of $ for something you could get from a gerai for a mere $3 (itu pun dah kira mahal lah kan).

Feeling a bit bipolar and perhaps a tinge of PMS today, the nasty me would say duit aku sukati akulah. But that would just be keji lah kan.Bad Signora!Bad Signora!

    • Actually that answer of “duit dia orang… dia orang punya suka” did creep into my mind at the time but no, I was definitely not on PMS that day! Ekekekekeke…

The only reply I could afford at the time was (lebih kurang mafhumnya) “Because spending money on food is not prohibited by Islam. But I guess those who buka puasa at Ramadan buffet normally brought along their friends, acquantances or clients and pay for their meals as well. Treating other people, poor or not, for meals is encouraged by Islam. But the unnecessarily lavish price of the meals might make their so called charity becomes redundant after all. So all in all, it becomes neutral. And besides, I’d hazard a guess that most of them did not spend their own money for the meals. They spent their company’s money!”

  2. Adoi laaa…

Masak sendiri kat rumah dpd beli, sbb tak mampu makan kat hotel (macam akuuuu….) 😀

    • Yup… memang pun.

    • Betul tu. Tapi sebenarnya masa Mr. V tanya soklan tu, I couldn’t help thinking that this guy knows much more about the spirit of Ramadan than Muslims themselves. Yet he is not a Muslim.
